Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival

The Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival is an all-bass music event in South Florida, aimed at creating an immersive experience for its attendees. As the lead designer, my challenge was to develop a unique brand identity that would not only capture the essence of the bass music genre but also appeal to a broader audience, particularly women, in what is traditionally a male-dominated space.

Full Branding and Visual Identity

THE CONCEPT

I envisioned the festival as a medieval/steampunk fantasy, complete with a compelling storyline set in a mystical land known as “The Forbidden Kingdom.” The narrative revolves around a cast of fictional characters who battle for control of this magical realm. Central to the story is Alana, a strong female protagonist who was introduced to resonate with and engage the female audience more deeply.

CARD COLLECTION

THE EXECUTION

The branding involved designing a cohesive visual identity that included festival logos, promotional materials, stage designs, and merchandise. The medieval/steampunk theme was woven into every aspect of the festival’s visuals, from the intricate design of the festival map to the elaborate costumes of the staff. The storyline, featuring Alana and the other characters, was integrated into marketing campaigns, social media content, and on-site experiences, creating a fully immersive environment for attendees.

Stage Design

THE RESULTS

The branding I developed played a crucial role in the festival’s success, helping it grow to attract over 30,000 attendees annually. The medieval/steampunk theme and the engaging storyline not only differentiated Forbidden Kingdom from other music festivals but also helped expand its audience, particularly among women, contributing to its strong and loyal fan base.
